The underestimated power of one section

The history of the string section

In an ideal world, there would be an orchestra living in perfect harmony.  However, this is not the scenario which we are living in today.

In the beginnng there were violins, these were designed to sound like heaven on earth, however, once played they emit an awfully high pitched note.  Most of the time out of tune.

So the conductor created cellos, to contrast these awfully high notes with low vibrant sound.

However, the violins did not like the cellos and the cellos did not like the violins.  There was an awful war, it raged across the orchestra day and night.

Until

One day, the conductor had a most excellent idea

He decided to create a new section, totally unparreled in splendour to combat the waring sections.  They would have the low dulcet tones of the cellos and the higher heavenly notes of the violins

He called them violas

Violas are a peaceful section unless provoked and they constantly endure the ridicule from the cellos and violins as these two sections are so deeply angry that they could not sort out their own dam problems

Of course they would never admit this

So that concludes the history of the string section

well, with the exception of the double bass section - who really don't do a lot anyway

So whenever you see a violin or a cello, take pity on the age old dispute which surrounds these once quite magnificent beings now embittered by hatred and sarcasm

Of course whenever you see a bass, don't expect a response, it's just too much for them
